Hybrid Pottery to Go ~ Raku • Firing: May 14, 2024

Mandatory: MUST have successfully completed the 577 Adult Pottery 6 Week Class to participate.

This class is a hybrid of our popular “work from home” classes where you will make all the pieces at home and then join us for an in-person outdoor firing of the raku kiln.

In this “work from your home” class, we will supply you with all the tools and resources you need to make this project: clay, pottery tools, drywall board, plastic bags to make your pieces at home. You will also have options to receive links to videos on basic constructions to make pots of your choosing using techniques including, pinch, coils, slabs, as well as instructions/ideas for what to make for your raku firing.

Please Note: Two hours of studio time is included for glazing or finishing your projects.

For this class, you will be limited to 4 to 6 pieces. Underglazes are available for an additional fee, or you may use your own. If you use underglazes, you will be required to glaze those pieces in white cloud/crackle. You will also have horsehair as an option.

*You can also choose to use your block of clay to create your pieces at home, on your own with your chosen indie times, or during other clay classes at 577, or a combo of both.

Important: After completing your projects you will receive an email about signing up for your raku firing day shift ~ you will be able to choose an afternoon or evening shift on the firing day ~Tuesday, May 14. A shift is 2 to 2.5 hours.

Choose from two options for finishes:

• $40 class includes the supply kit, and you will have access to all the raku glazes (you will apply these in advance).
*Important: Choose this option if you own and want to use your own underglazes. You will glaze your pieces in white cloud/crackle.

• Optional Add-On to $40 class: $10 fee adds 8 small containers of underglazes (orange, purple, yellow, red, blue, brown, green, black). You will put white crackle over any underglaze or use horsehair.

Material Pick Up: Friday, April 12, 8:30am to 4pm
Return Projects/Materials: Thursday, May 2, 8:30am to 4pm*
Raku Firing: Tuesday, May 14, 1pm to 8pm

REFUND POLICY:

Important Considerations: As a small non-profit organization, we strive to keep class sizes small and affordable. Please only register for classes you will be able to attend, and reserve cancellations for emergencies and illnesses. Even with the waitlist that we offer for most classes, when you cancel out of a class, the other excited potential participants may have made other plans because the class is full.

This refund policy was established to honor 577's Instructors, to respect the time and energy they invest in preparing for each class, and to encourage class participants to weigh their class registrations carefully and in balance with other potential participants.

If you choose to withdraw from a class, the refund policies are as follows:

Refund via the Original Method of Payment ~ Credit Card, Cash, or Check*:
>>> 100% refund with seven (7) or more business days’ notice prior to the start of class, less a 5% administrative fee.
>>> 50% refund with three (3) to six (6) business days' notice prior to the start of class, less a 5% administrative fee. (If we can fill your spot with another participant, you will receive a 100% refund, less a 5% administrative fee.)
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellations two (2) business days prior to the start of class. (If we can fill your spot with another participant, you will receive a 100% refund, less a 5% administrative fee.)

Refund via Household Credit to use on another class at a future date*:
>>> 100% refund as a Household Credit with seven (7) or more business days’ notice prior to the start of class.
>>> 50% refund as a Household Credit with three (3) to six (6) business days' notice prior to the start of class. (If we can fill your spot with another participant, you will receive a 100% refund.)
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellations two (2) business days prior to the start of class. (If we can fill your spot with another participant, you will receive a 100% refund via Household Credit.)

*Exceptions may be made to this policy in extreme circumstances. Please contact us to discuss options for cancellation in the event of illness or emergency.

**Once a refund is processed as a Household Credit, you may not request a refund via a credit card, cash, or check at a later date.

Donations: In lieu of a refund, you may request your registration fee be donated back to 577 to support future educational programming and a scholarship fund designed to make classes available to all.
