Family Pottery: Coil-Built Planters (Ages 5-6/18+)

Create, plant, and grow together in this fun and engaging family pottery class! Designed especially for children ages 5–6 and their accompanying adult (18+), this hands-on experience invites families to work side-by-side to build a small coil-built planter—perfect for bringing a little green life into your home.

577 Pottery Coordinator Alison will guide families step-by-step through coiling techniques, demonstrating how to shape the planter and add texture, patterns, and playful embellishments. Kids will also have the chance to paint their planters with colorful underglazes, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.

Finished planters will be bisque-fired only to ensure they are perfect to keep healthy plants. Families will receive an email when items are ready for pickup, typically two to three weeks after class. When you return to pick up your creations, each child will receive a small plant to pot in their handmade planter—adding an extra touch of joy as they watch it grow.

This class is a wonderful way for families to explore pottery together while creating a functional piece of living art.

Class Notes: Each registration is for one (1) youth between the ages of 5 to 6, with an accompanying adult 18 years old and older. Due to the small class size, only one adult may accompany the youth registered. If an adult would like to accompany multiple youth participants, please sign up each youth participant individually and list the adult's name for each registration.

REFUND POLICY:

Important Considerations: As a small non-profit organization, we strive to keep class sizes small and affordable. Please only register for classes you will be able to attend, and reserve cancellations for emergencies and illnesses. Even with the waitlist that we offer for most classes, when you cancel out of a class, the other excited potential participants may have made other plans because the class is full.

This refund policy was established to honor 577's Instructors, to respect the time and energy they invest in preparing for each class, and to encourage class participants to weigh their class registrations carefully and in balance with other potential participants.

If you choose to withdraw from a class, the refund policies are as follows:

Refund via the Original Method of Payment ~ Credit Card, Cash, or Check*:
>>> 100% refund with seven (7) or more days’ notice prior to the start of class, less a 5% administrative fee.
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellation six (6) days prior to the start of class. Exception: If we can fill your spot with another participant, you may elect to receive a 100% refund, less a 5% administrative fee.

Refund via Household Credit to use on another class at a future date*:
>>> 100% refund as a Household Credit with seven (7) or more days’ notice prior to the start of class.
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellations six (6) days prior to the start of class. Exception: If we can fill your spot with another participant, you may elect to receive a 100% refund via Household Credit.

*Exceptions may be made to this policy in extreme circumstances. Please contact us to discuss options for cancellation in the event of illness or emergency.

**Once a refund is processed as a Household Credit, you may not request a refund via a credit card, cash, or check at a later date.

Donations: In lieu of a refund, you may request your registration fee be donated back to 577 to support future educational programming and a scholarship fund designed to make classes available to all.
