Programs
Hosted inside Virginia’s House, this experience invites guests to gather as Virginia once did, sharing tea, conversation, and the beauty of the Maumee River just beyond the windows. Enjoy a thoughtfully prepared assortment of teas, tea sandwiches, and desserts while learning from Karla Militello of The Summer Kitchen.
Through her engaging talk, you’ll uncover the fascinating world of tea. Learn how the first tea gatherings began and explore the nuances between low tea and high tea, along with essential tea etiquette. You’ll also dive into the tea itself, discovering the origins of tea, the differences between grocery store bagged teas and premium loose-leaf varieties, and the unique characteristics of black, green, and white teas, as well as herbal and fruit tisanes and rooibos. Along the way, you’ll gain practical tips on proper storage and the secrets to brewing the perfect cup to enjoy on your own or share with others.
The morning will also include a special welcome and remarks from Executive Director Heather Gallant.
Each guest will take home a beautiful, nature-themed teabag or spoon rest, handcrafted at 577 in the Pottery Studio by 577 Pottery Manager and Ceramic Artist Julie Beutler.
After the program, guests are invited to stroll the gardens and grounds and take in the beauty of spring in full bloom. Held during Mother’s Day weekend, it’s a lovely opportunity to share this experience with someone special.

They started as a floral and home decor store, and fell into the tea business. For over 20 years, they have been serving customers tea while they shop in their store, and they have tripled their tea offerings since they started selling it. They offer several tea classes and events at their store, and wholesale their teas to several museums and businesses in the area.

REFUND POLICY:
Important Considerations: As a small non-profit organization, we strive to keep class sizes small and affordable. Please only register for classes you will be able to attend, and reserve cancellations for emergencies and illnesses. Even with the waitlist that we offer for most classes, when you cancel out of a class, the other excited potential participants may have made other plans because the class is full.
This refund policy was established to honor 577's Instructors, to respect the time and energy they invest in preparing for each class, and to encourage class participants to weigh their class registrations carefully and in balance with other potential participants.
If you choose to withdraw from a class, the refund policies are as follows:
Refund via the Original Method of Payment ~ Credit Card, Cash, or Check*:
>>> 100% refund with seven (7) or more days’ notice prior to the start of class, less a 5% administrative fee.
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellation six (6) days prior to the start of class. Exception: If we can fill your spot with another participant, you may elect to receive a 100% refund, less a 5% administrative fee.
Refund via Household Credit to use on another class at a future date*:
>>> 100% refund as a Household Credit with seven (7) or more days’ notice prior to the start of class.
>>> No refunds will be given for cancellations six (6) days prior to the start of class. Exception: If we can fill your spot with another participant, you may elect to receive a 100% refund via Household Credit.
*Exceptions may be made to this policy in extreme circumstances. Please contact us to discuss options for cancellation in the event of illness or emergency.
**Once a refund is processed as a Household Credit, you may not request a refund via a credit card, cash, or check at a later date.
Donations: In lieu of a refund, you may request your registration fee be donated back to 577 to support future educational programming and a scholarship fund designed to make classes available to all.
