Programs
This class is a hybrid of our popular “work from home” classes, where you will make all the pieces at home and then join us for an in-person outdoor firing of the raku kiln.
In this “work from your home” class, we will supply you with all the tools and resources you need to make this project: clay, pottery tools, drywall board, plastic bags to make your pieces at home. You will also have options to receive links to videos on basic constructions to make pots of your choosing using techniques including, pinch, coils, slabs, as well as instructions/ideas for what to make for your raku firing.
For this class, you will be limited to four (4) to six (6) pieces. Underglazes are available for an additional fee, or you may use your own. If you use underglazes, you will be required to glaze those pieces in white cloud/crackle. You will also have horsehair as an option. To fit in the kiln, they must be shorter than 11 inches and large slabs can crack easily, see Julie for more information.
Important Class Notes:
• Two hours of studio time is included for glazing or finishing your projects.
• You can also choose to use your block of clay to create your pieces at home, on your own with your chosen indie times, or during other clay classes at 577, or a combo of both.
• After completing your projects, you will receive an email about signing up for your raku firing day shift and potluck~ you will be able to choose an afternoon or early evening shift on the firing day ~ Wednesday, October 21. A shift is 3 to 4 hours.*
Choose from two options for finishes:
• $50 class includes the supply kit, and you will have access to all the raku glazes (you will apply these in advance). *Important: Choose this option if you own and want to use your own underglazes. You will glaze your pieces in white cloud/crackle.
• Optional Add-On to $50 class: $15 fee adds 8 small containers of underglazes (orange, purple, yellow, red, blue, brown, green, black). You will put white crackle over any underglaze or use horsehair.
After registration and before payment is completed, you will schedule your pickup time slot for materials. Using your key fob for supply pickup and drop-off is now our preferred method. If you would like to use your key fob for this class, please contact Julie to set it up.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
577 offers a wide variety of classes with intentionally small class sizes to create meaningful learning experiences. Because space is limited, we ask participants to register thoughtfully and review our registration, cancellation, refund, accessibility, accommodation, and illness policies before completing registration.
Life happens, and we understand that plans sometimes change. Our policies are designed to keep classes affordable, respect the time our instructors invest in preparing for each class, and provide opportunities for waitlisted participants whenever possible.
577 is committed to creating welcoming and inclusive experiences for all participants. If you have accessibility needs or require reasonable accommodations to fully participate, we encourage you to contact us before your class so we can work with you to provide appropriate support whenever possible.
Our complete policies are available on our website and are also included in the Notes section below and on your registration receipt.

We’re excited to welcome you to class. Please note that doors will open no earlier than 20 minutes before the scheduled class time. This allows our instructors time to prepare and ensures the best experience for everyone. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you soon.
